Electronic music has taken some interesting turns. While synthesizers used to revolve around an obsession with recreating real instruments, it’s largely moved on to experimenting with interesting sounds that cannot be easily made by real objects and spaces. A lot of snobs say “I hate techno”, but the whole of electronic is probably the most varied and diverse “genre” there is.
I have a synthesizer called Sytrus and I’ve just been experimenting trying to get my head around the variety of sounds it can make. I’m not very good with it, and its possibilities for frequency modulation synthesis crush my mind. But here’s a brief mood idea I had last night.
