What is this?

This is a place for me to put writings that don’t belong at The Blackbird Press. That includes my more creative works, scraps of ideas in progress, and my somewhat bizarre spiritual walk.

Why the name?

It’s a reference to psalm 102:

I am like a desert owl of the wilderness.
Like an owl of the waste places, I lie awake.
I am like a lonely sparrow on a housetop.
